Facial-Make of Beijing Opera

Xia Houyuan, whose literary name is Yuanlang, was born in Qiao (now Bo county, Anhui province) in the period of three kingdoms. In the late East Han Dynasty, he following Cao Cao raised troops and attacked Yuan Shao, Han sui. He is famous for his valor. In the twentieth year of Jian’an, he served as zhengxi general to defend Hanzhong, and later was killed by Huang Zhong, an inferior officer of Liu Bei.
