Facial-Make of Beijing Opera

Zhang fei, whose literary name is Yide, was born in Tun county (now Tun county, Hebei province) and is the senior general of Shu Kingdoms in the period of three kingdoms. In the late East Han Dynasty, he followed Liu Bei to raise trppos to rebel. When Cao Cao took city Jingzhou and defeated Liu Bei at Changbanpo, Zhang Fei commanded soldiers to fight against Cao’s army and Cao’s soldiers were frightened by his valor. Later he following Liu Bei occupied city Yizhou and was appointted Cheqi general. At the time, he and Guan Yu both were famous for their valiancy. In the first year of Zhangwu, he followied Liu Bei to attack Wu Kingdom and was killed by his inferior officer before setting out.
